The 240-litre green bin is for garden organics. The fortnightly service is available to Canberra households including most apartments and townhouses upon request by building management.

Garden organics is processed by Corkhill Bros at Mugga Lane Resource Management Centre where it is mulched and composted to produce nutrient rich soil conditioner products.
Composting garden organics reduces greenhouse gas emissions by decreasing the volume of organic material sent to landfill.

Please note: Some households in the ACT are part of the food organics and garden organics (FOGO) pilot. Households in the pilot receive a free green bin (known as their FOGO bin).
What can and can't go in your green bin
The green bin is for garden organics such as weeds, grass, clippings, prunings, flowers, leaves, twigs and small branches (no longer than 45 cm long and a diameter of 10 cm). Please also ensure that your bin is not too heavy (less than 50 kg) so the truck can lift it.
Problems with your collection
If your green waste bin hasn’t been emptied despite putting it out by 7 am on your collection day, contact JJ Richards on 6270 5070. Leave your bin on the kerbside until serviced.
