General updates
Death cap mushrooms: Inspections and removals continue throughout autumn with 6 mushrooms removed last week.
Mowing: The seasonal mowing program is underway with mowing in Charnwood, Cook, Macquarie and Weetangera. The chemical treatment of laneways is also underway.
Prescribed burns: Subject to suitable weather conditions, ACT Parks and Conservation will conduct a prescribed burn at Pinnacle Reserve over the next couple of months as part of the annual program. The community may see an increase in smoke and emergency service vehicles in these areas but are asked not to call emergency triple-zero (000) unless they see an unattended fire. Crews will also be undertaking pre-burn works at the Uriarra Station prescribed burn site.

Infrastructure
There are a number of infrastructure projects currently underway in the Central Canberra region including:
Beltana Road upgrade, Pialligo: Works on the project are nearing completion with 90% of the road pavement rehabilitation complete. The raised crossing at the far eastern end of Beltana Road (near Rodney’s Plants Plus) is expected to be installed soon. Temporary traffic management is in place to guide pedestrians.
Mowing: The seasonal mowing program is underway with mowing in Franklin and Ngunnawal. The chemical treatment of laneways is also underway.
Playgrounds: Crews are topping up mulch at the playground on Spec Place in Palmerston.
Prescribed burns: Subject to suitable weather conditions, ACT Parks and Conservation will conduct prescribed burns in Gungahlin, Crace Grasslands Reserve and Gubur Dhaura over the next couple of months as part of the annual program. Infrastructure
There are a number of infrastructure projects currently underway in the Gungahlin region including:
Gungahlin memorial hall and condolence lounge: Construction is progressing including bulk excavation and service relocation activities. All construction activities include noise monitoring and coordination with cemetery operations to reduce impacts on staff and patrons.
Yerrabi Pond upgrades: Construction continues along Phyllis Ashton Circuit, Nellie Hamilton Avenue and Strayleaf Crescent adjacent to the commercial areas. Works to replace broken bollards on Phyllis Ashton Circuit are continuing.
From Monday 10 March to Tuesday 10 June 2025 the ACT Government is conducting the annual 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) baiting program targeting wild dogs, foxes and feral pigs in various areas of Namadgi National Park, Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve and the Murrumbidgee River Corridor. All areas will be clearly indicated with warning signs.
The showers at Woods Reserve campground are unavailable until further notice. Guests with confirmed bookings will be notified and given options for a refund and cancellation, a refund of the cost difference, or the option to move to another campsite.
Crews are also undertaking:
pest management to remove a feral goat population in Rob Roy Nature Reserve with the reserve remaining open and no impact to recreational use
storm damage repair work on Grassy Creek Fire Trail and Middle Creek crossing in Namadgi National Park
roadside vegetation treatment on Corin Road from Square Rock carpark to Corin Dam
Spanish heath monitoring and mapping will take place on the Mt Taylor summit.

Playgrounds: Crews are topping up mulch at the playgrounds on Howell Place and Wrap Place in Gowrie.

There are a number of infrastructure projects currently underway in the Tuggeranong region including:
Glendale picnic area upgrades: Work is underway to upgrade and install new picnic facilities such as tables and shelters at Glendale picnic area in Namadgi National Park. The work will take a few weeks to complete and the area will remain open to the public.
Lanyon dog park: External fencing works continue at the Lanyon dog park.
Namadgi National Park Visitors Centre upgrades: Work is underway to upgrade and install new BBQ and picnic facilities, walking tracks and an art installation at the Namadgi National Park Visitors Centre. The upgrades aim to provide accessible facilities for the community to enjoy while also recognising the 2020 Orroral Valley bushfire. The Visitors Centre remains open while work is underway.
Sulwood drive upgrade: The majority of works are now complete on Sulwood Drive. The new left turn slip lane onto Drakeford Drive and the new walking and cycling path on the southern side of Sulwood Drive are open.
ACT parks and reserves: Murrays Corner recreation area and Bullen Pines are closed to undertake forestry operations.
Mowing: The seasonal mowing program is underway with mowing in Chapman, Fisher, Rivett, Stirling and Waramanga.
Prescribed burns: Subject to suitable weather conditions, ACT Parks and Conservation will conduct prescribed burns in Denman Prospect, Mt Taylor and Molonglo over the next couple of months as part of the annual program. Mawson shops toilet upgrade: The toilet refurbishment works continue. A unisex accessible toilet will remain open for use with the new toilet opening before the old one closes. The refurbished female toilets and new unisex accessible toilet are expected to open in the coming fortnight. This will mark the completion of stage 1. Stage 2 will commence immediately after stage 1 is complete.
Arterial roads are litter picked approximately every 4 weeks. Main roads are also regularly inspected within this period to identify and program the removal of larger litter items.
Barbecues are cleaned twice a week between September and April and once a week for the rest of the year. We manage 125 barbecues across Canberra.
Graffiti is removed within 5 business days of being reported and within one business day if offensive. To report graffiti please go to Fix My Street.
Lakes and waterways adjacent to town and district parks are checked for litter each week. Urban lakes and ponds are litter picked a minimum of 5-6 times a year. There are over 160 urban lakes and ponds around Canberra. Reports of excess litter or illegal dumping are prioritised for removal as soon as possible.
Playgrounds are routinely inspected. We manage over 500 playgrounds across Canberra.
district playgrounds (e.g. Lake Ginninderra) are inspected twice per week
central community playgrounds (e.g. Crace) are inspected every week
local neighbourhood playgrounds (e.g. Duffy) are inspected every fortnight
Public land around shopping centres is routinely cleaned. We manage 90 shopping centres across Canberra and clean them as follows.
town centres (e.g. Woden) and group centres (e.g. Dickson) are cleaned daily
local shops (e.g. Fisher) vary in cleaning from daily to 3 times a week.
Public toilets are cleaned at least once daily. Additionally, reactive cleaning and maintenance is undertaken as required. We manage 73 toilets across Canberra.
Storm clean-up will continue focusing on clearing fallen material along main arterial roads.
Trees under 3 years of age in non‑irrigated areas are generally watered monthly from November to April.
