Florey shops traffic, parking and pedestrian safety improvements

The ACT Government is making changes to improve traffic, parking and pedestrian safety at the Florey shops. Initial proposed improvements include:

  • a new pedestrian crossing at the front of the medical centre on Kesteven Street
  • 2 new streetlights and a speed cushion on the approach to the pedestrian crossing
  • a reduced speed limit of 40kmh in the Florey shops precinct
  • 2 new speed cushions on the approach to the existing pedestrian refuge island on Connah Street with age friendly crossing warning signage
  • new wayfinding signage, including to the car park adjacent to the oval which has lower utilisation
  • new seating.

Have your say

All users of Florey shops are invited to provide feedback on these changes. We are also seeking your feedback and experiences of traffic and parking at the Florey shops, and your suggestions for what improvements could be considered as part of these works.

To help improve parking at Florey shops, please tell us:

  • how often you visit the Florey shops and how long you typically stay
  • would you like to see time restricted parking (i.e. 15-minute, 30-minute or 1-hour) introduced at Florey shops to increase parking turnover?
  • are there enough mobility parking spaces or drop off / pick up areas to meet your needs?
  • are there any other changes to parking arrangements you would like considered?

Please note: Given the available car parking spaces in the area have a varied level of use, our immediate focus is on improving the existing arrangements to better meet the needs of the variety of visitors and businesses at Florey shops.
